    The Special Collections Division houses the genealogy and local history materials of the Akron-Summit County Public Library. Our goal is to collect, preserve, and provide access to the history of Summit County, and to continue to maintain one of the area’s most extensive genealogy collections.

Pennsylvania Expands Access to Vital Records

Pennsylvania has expanded public access to some older birth and death records.  Births for 1906 and deaths from 1906 to 1961 are now available to researchers.  For more information, visit the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission or the Vital Records Division of the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
