    The Special Collections Division houses the genealogy and local history materials of the Akron-Summit County Public Library. Our goal is to collect, preserve, and provide access to the history of Summit County, and to continue to maintain one of the area’s most extensive genealogy collections.

The Longwood Manor Historical Society is devoted to the Restoration and Preservation of Colonel William Frew Long’s, Macedonia, Ohio estate. Colonel Long was elected the “first” Mayor of Macedonia. He remained Mayor of the city until he was 96 years old, making him the oldest Mayor in the United States.
